Gallatin, Missouri, US is a city in Daviess County, established in 1836. It is named after Albert Gallatin, Secretary of the Treasury under Thomas Jefferson. The city served as a stop on the Santa Fe Trail and was the site of the controversial Dred Scott trial in 1857.
