Burnsville is a town in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, US. It was incorporated in 1857 and named after politician and soldier, Colonel Alexander Burns. The town is home to the historic Tishomingo State Park, known for its Native American heritage and scenic natural beauty. During the Civil War, Burnsville was occupied by both Union and Confederate forces. Today, the town has a population of approximately 1,000 residents and covers an area of 1.6 square miles.
