Leicester is a town in Buncombe County, North Carolina, US, founded in 1859. It was named after the English city of Leicester. The town was originally a farming community, but during the 20th century, it developed into a residential area for Asheville, a nearby city. Leicester's historic downtown district features well-preserved buildings from the late 1800s and early 1900s. A notable attraction in Leicester is the Carson House, a museum and historic plantation house built in 1793.
