Richardton, North Dakota, US is a city in Stark County, established in 1902. It was named after French missionary, Father Pierre-Jean De Smet, who was also known as "the black robe." The city is home to the Assumption Abbey, a notable landmark and the only Trappist monastery in the United States. Richardton has a rich history in agriculture and the railroad industry. As of the 2020 census, the city has a population of approximately 500 residents.
