Weeping Water is a city in Cass County, Nebraska, United States, with a population of approximately 1,100 as of the 2010 census. The city was established in 1865 and named after the nearby Weeping Water Creek, a Sioux term meaning "water full of tears." The city is home to the Chief Standing Bear Memorial Bridge, a notable landmark dedicated to the Ponca Chief who fought for Native American rights. Weeping Water is also known for its well-preserved historic downtown district, which includes several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
