Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, US is a township in Ocean County. It was incorporated in 1740, making it one of the oldest townships in the county. The township was named after the Little Egg Harbor River, which was in turn named by early Dutch settlers for the large number of egg-shaped oyster shells found there. The township is home to the Tuckerton Seaport, a maritime museum and village that showcases the region's rich coastal history and culture.
