Vado, New Mexico, incorporated in 1998, is a small village in Doña Ana County. It is located near the Rio Grande and Interstate 10, about 12 miles north of Las Cruces. The village was originally settled by farmers and is named after the Spanish word for "go." A notable attraction in Vado is the historic and well-preserved Harvey House, which was built in 1908 and served as a rest stop for travelers on the railroad.
