Hauppauge, NY is a hamlet in Suffolk County, located on Long Island. Its name is derived from the Native American term "Oppogogue" meaning "land of thickets." The area was first settled in the 17th century and experienced growth with the arrival of the Long Island Rail Road in the late 19th century. Today, it is known for the Hauppauge Industrial Park, one of the largest on Long Island, which houses over 1,300 companies. The park and surrounding area also host the annual tradition of the "Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze," a popular attraction featuring thousands of illuminated pumpkins.
