Oxford, New York, US is a town in Chenango County, established in 1793. It was named after Oxford, England, and was the birthplace of abolitionist and women's rights advocate, Matilda Joslyn Gage. The town is home to the nationally recognized Oxford Memorial Library, which was designed by architect J.A. Wood in 1906. Today, Oxford has a population of approximately 3,700 and covers an area of 48 square miles.
