Palmyra is a town in Wayne County, New York, United States, located about 25 miles east of Rochester. It was first settled in 1789 and was incorporated in 1796. Palmyra is known as the birthplace of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with the organization of the church taking place in 1830. A notable attraction in Palmyra is the Hill Cumorah, a drumlin that is the site of annual performances of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Hill Cumorah Pageant.
