Rocky Point is a hamlet located in the town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York, USA. It was originally inhabited by the Setalcott tribe and later settled by European settlers in the 17th century. The community was a popular summer resort in the early 20th century, with the opening of the Rocky Point Amusement Park in 1892. The park, which featured roller coasters, a boardwalk, and a dance hall, attracted visitors from New York City and beyond until its closure in 1987. Today, Rocky Point is a residential community with a population of approximately 14,000, and the site of the former amusement park is now a state park offering outdoor activities such as hiking and fishing.
