Fort Recovery, Ohio is a village located in Mercer County. It is historically significant as the site of two battles during the Northwest Indian War in 1794. The first battle, known as the "Battle of the Miami River," resulted in a Native American victory over American forces. The second battle, which took place a few days later, was a victory for General Anthony Wayne's forces, who retook the fort and ultimately helped to secure the Northwest Territory for the United States.
