Malta, Ohio is a village located in Morgan County in the southeastern part of the state. It was established in 1834 and named after the Mediterranean island of Malta. The village was a stop on the Marietta and Cincinnati Railroad, which contributed to its growth in the 19th century. Malta is home to the Decatur Township Historical Society, which operates a museum with exhibits on local history. The museum is housed in the former Malta railroad depot, a notable landmark that was built in 1883.
