Payne, Ohio is a village located in Paulding County in the northwestern part of the state. It was established in 1845 and named after General George Payne, a veteran of the War of 1812. The village covers an area of 0.75 square miles and had a population of 1,121 as of the 2010 census. Payne is home to the historic Payne Church, which was built in 1884 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The church is known for its beautiful stained glass windows and Gothic architecture.
