Piqua, Ohio, US is a city in Miami County, founded in 1807 by a French trader, Pierre Navarre. It was originally named "Greeneville" after General Nathanael Greene, but was later renamed to its current name in 1816, derived from the Shawnee word for "he has risen." The city played a significant role in the 1812 war and the Underground Railroad.
