Copan, OK is a town in Washington County, founded in 1896. It was named after the Copan Native American tribe and the Copan Indian Agency that were previously located in the area. The town was originally a farming community and later became a center for oil production. The town is home to the historic Copan Opry, a community center and music venue that has been in operation since 1936. Today, Copan has a population of around 800 people and is a rural community with a rich history.
