Ninnekah, Oklahoma is a town in Grady County, established in 1899. It was named after Ninny, a Chickasaw girl, and the Creek word "eka," meaning "black." The town was originally a farming community, but its economy now includes various industries such as manufacturing and retail. Ninnekah is home to the historic Ninnekah School, which was built in 1914 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
