Snyder, Oklahoma is a town in Kiowa County, established in 1901. It was named after local postmaster, Scott Snyder. The town was originally a farming community, but later became a center for oil production. The discovery of the Snyder Field in 1912 led to a population boom. The town's notable landmark is the Kiowa County Courthouse, built in 1912, which is a good example of early 20th-century public architecture in Oklahoma.
