Verden, Oklahoma, US is a city in Grady County, established in 1902. It was named after a Viking chief, Verden, and incorporated in 1903. The city is known for its annual Verden Steer Wrestling Festival, which has been held since 1929 and is one of the oldest rodeos in the country. Verden is also home to the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, a museum dedicated to the history of the Chisholm Trail, a major route used for cattle drives in the 19th century.
