Central City, Pennsylvania, US is a borough in Somerset County. It was established in 1854 and named after Central City, Colorado, the birthplace of one of its founders. The town is known for its rich coal mining history and was once home to the largest mine in the world, the Glendale Coal Company's No. 6 mine. A notable attraction in Central City is the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site, where in 2002, nine miners were successfully rescued after being trapped for over 77 hours.
