Greeleyville, South Carolina, US is a small town in Williamsburg County, founded in the mid-19th century. It was named after a local landowner, Richard Greeley. The town is known for the Greeleyville Mound, a Native American archaeological site. In 1995, Greeleyville gained national attention when two churches were burned down during a spate of racially motivated arson attacks. The town has since rebuilt and remains a quiet, historic community in the rural South.
