Longs, South Carolina, located in Horry County, was named after John Laurance Long, a local landowner and businessman. The area was originally inhabited by the Waccamaw and Cheraw Native American tribes. Longs was officially incorporated in 1995 and has since grown to a population of approximately 2,000 residents. The town is home to the historic Longs Train Station, which was built in 1910 and now serves as a museum and visitor center.
