Pomaria, SC, located in Newberry County, was founded in the mid-1700s by German and Scots-Irish settlers. The town was named after a biblical land and served as an agricultural hub. During the Civil War, Pomaria was the site of a Confederate gun factory. Today, it is home to the historic Pomaria Mansion, a plantation house built in the 1800s, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
