Dowelltown, Tennessee, US is a small town located in DeKalb County, established in the 1800s. It was named after the Dowell family, early settlers in the area. The town served as a stagecoach stop between Nashville and McMinnville. Dowelltown is home to the historic Rock House Creek covered bridge, built in 1871, which is a notable attraction and one of the few remaining covered bridges in the state.
