Harrison, Tennessee is a town in Hamilton County, established in the 1850s. It was named after General Carter Harrison Sr., a Union general during the Civil War. The town was primarily agricultural until the mid-20th century, when it became a residential suburb of Chattanooga. Harrison is home to the historic Howard School, a former African American school that is now a museum and community center. The town covers an area of approximately 11 square miles and has a population of around 8,000.
