Henderson, Tennessee, US is a city in Chester County, founded in 1830 and incorporated in 1838. It was named after William Henderson, a Tennessee politician. The city played a role in the Civil War as a site of a skirmish in 1864. A notable attraction is the Historic Courthouse, built in 1852, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Henderson is also home to Freed-Hardeman University, a private liberal arts institution.
