Kingsport, Tennessee, US, is a city in Sullivan and Hawkins counties, founded in 1917. It was originally a planned community developed by the Kingsport Press and other companies. The city is known for its historic downtown area, which includes the Renaissance Center, a performing arts and conference facility. The name "Kingsport" is derived from the King Coal Coalition and the "port" of the Holston River, where coal was shipped.
