Aubrey, Texas, located in Denton County, was established in the late 1800s as a farming and ranching community. It was named after settler Aubrey Harrison Evans. The town experienced growth with the arrival of the Texas and Pacific Railway in 1886. Today, Aubrey is a small city with a population of around 4,000, and it is known for its historic downtown square and the Parker County Courthouse, a notable landmark that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
