Industry, Texas, located in Austin County, was established in the late 19th century as a railroad town. It was named for its location as a center of industry in the region. The town reached its peak population of around 300 in the early 20th century, but has since declined to a current population of around 30. The town is home to the Industry Railroad Depot, a historic building that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
