Lytle, Texas, located in Atascosa County, was established in the late 1800s as a railroad town. It was named after Benjamin F. Lytle, president of the San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad. The town's growth was largely driven by the railroad and agriculture, particularly the cultivation of cotton and peanuts. Today, Lytle is known for the historic Lytle Water Tower, a landmark that was built in 1931 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town has a population of approximately 3,000 residents.
