Van, Texas, located in Van Zandt County, was established in the mid-1840s and incorporated in 1871. The town was named after Van Zandt County's first judge, John M. Van. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Van thrived due to the railroad and agriculture. Today, it is home to the historic and notable Landmark Inn, a two-story limestone building constructed in 1876, which now serves as a museum and event venue.
