Fries, Virginia, located in Grayson County, was established in 1902 by two brothers, Samuel and William Fries. The town was originally a lumber and railroad hub, with the Fries Textile Company playing a significant role in its development. The town is home to the historic Fries Theatre, built in 1939, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Fries has a population of around 500 and offers outdoor recreational activities, such as fishing and boating, on the New River.
