Sutherland, VA, US is a census-designated place (CDP) in Dinwiddie County. It was named after a family of early settlers, the Sutherlands. The community was established in the 19th century and has since grown to include a variety of residential and commercial properties. A notable attraction in Sutherland is the Sutherland Depot, a historic train station that was built in 1910 and now serves as a museum and visitor center. The depot is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
