Wallingford, Vermont, US is a town in Rutland County, established in 1761 and incorporated in 1763. It was named after the British statesman, the Duke of Newcastle, who was also the Earl of Wallingford. The town covers a total area of 40.2 square miles, with a population of approximately 2,000 as of 2010. Wallingford is home to the unique and historically significant Flood Brook School, a one-room schoolhouse built in 1892 that is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
