New Manchester, West Virginia, US is an unincorporated community in Hancock County. It was originally settled in the late 1700s and was known as "Manchester." The name was changed to "New Manchester" in 1875 to avoid confusion with Manchester, Ohio. The community is located along the Ohio River and was once home to a number of industrial operations, including a rolling mill and nail factory. A notable attraction in New Manchester is the Manchester Bridge, a historic truss bridge that was built in 1891 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
