Boaz, Alabama, located in Marshall County, was incorporated in 1897. It was named after Boaz, a character in the Bible's Book of Ruth. The city's growth was fueled by the arrival of the Kansas City, Memphis and Birmingham Railroad. Boaz is known for its agricultural industry, particularly poultry, and is home to the Albertville-Boaz United States Postal Service Bulk Mail Center, the largest mail processing facility in Alabama.
