Grove Hill, Alabama, US is the county seat of Clarke County. It was established in 1819 and incorporated in 1937. The town was named for a large grove of oak trees near a hill. The most notable landmark in Grove Hill is the Alston-Cobb House, a Greek Revival style house built in 1854, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
