Aguilar, Colorado, US is a home rule municipality located in Las Animas County. The town was incorporated in 1902 and named after a Spanish governor of New Mexico, Pedro de Aguilar. Aguilar is known for its rich coal mining history, with several mines operating in the area during the early 20th century.
