Oakland Park, Florida, located in Broward County, was incorporated in 1929. The city was originally named "Floranada," a combination of the words "Florida" and "Canada." However, due to financial difficulties, the city was forced to declare bankruptcy in 1933 and was subsequently reincorporated as Oakland Park in 1934. The city is home to the Oakland Park Flea Market, a popular attraction that spans over six acres and features over 1,000 vendors. Today, Oakland Park has a population of approximately 44,000 people and covers an area of 8.2 square miles.
