Tama, Iowa, US is a city in Tama County, established in 1853. It was initially a trading post for the Sac and Fox tribes, and later became a hub for the railroad industry. The city was named after a Sauk tribal leader, Taimah. Today, Tama is home to the Meskwaki Settlement, a sovereign nation of the Meskwaki tribe, known for its casino and cultural center.
