Arco, Idaho, US is a small city in Butte County with a population of approximately 1,000 as of 2010. It is known as the first city in the world to be lit entirely by atomic power, which occurred on July 17, 1955. The city was named after the Arco Valley, which in turn was named after a surveyor working for the Oregon Short Line Railroad. The nearby Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve is a notable attraction, featuring volcanic formations and lava fields.
