Rising Sun is a town in Cecil County, Maryland, United States, near the border with Pennsylvania. Established in 1728, it was originally a port town along the Delaware River. The town was named after the rising sun over the river. During the American Revolution, Rising Sun was a stop on the Underground Railroad, with the Mason-Dixon Line nearby. The town is home to the historic Tome School, founded in 1797, which is now a museum and national historic landmark.
