Clarkston, MI, US is a village in Oakland County, founded in 1832 and incorporated in 1864. It was originally a mill town, with the first mill built by Michigan's first governor, Stevens T. Mason. The village was named after George W. Clark, a land speculator. Clarkston is known for its historic downtown district, which includes the Clarkston Depot, a train station built in 1851 and now serving as a museum.
