Lake Leelanau is a natural lake in Leelanau County, Michigan, US. It is the largest lake in the county, consisting of two bodies of water connected by a narrow channel. The lake is 8,760 acres in size with a maximum depth of 121 feet. It was originally called "Lake of the Marshes" by the Native American Ottawa tribe, but was renamed to its current name by European settlers. A notable landmark is the historic Fishtown in Leland, a charming collection of weathered fishing shanties and docks on the lake's shore.
