Lake Odessa is a village located in Ionia County, Michigan, with a population of approximately 1,900 as of 2019. The village was settled in the late 19th century and incorporated in 1903. It is named after a nearby lake of the same name. The village is home to the Wahpeton Indian School, a Native American boarding school established in 1884. The school was originally established to assimilate Native American children into white culture, but today it serves as a cultural center and museum.
