Siler City, located in Chatham County, North Carolina, was established in 1887 and named after Samuel Siler, a local businessman. The town was originally a hub for the railroad industry and later became known for its furniture and textile manufacturing. Today, it is home to the North Carolina Estates & Specialty License Plate Agency, one of only four such agencies in the state. Siler City has a population of approximately 8,000 and covers an area of 6.5 square miles.
