Candia, New Hampshire, US is a town in Rockingham County, established in 1763. It was originally part of the Candia Parish, which was split from Chester. The town is named after Candia, a former colony of the Republic of Venice. Candia is known for its rural character and the historic Moore Schoolhouse, built in 1832, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town has a total area of 34.5 square miles, with a population of approximately 4,000 as of 2010.
