Coxsackie is a town in Greene County, New York, United States, first settled in 1708 and incorporated in 1788. It is named after the Esopus tribe's term "Coxsackie," meaning "place of quicksand." The town is home to the Coxsackie Correctional Facility, a maximum-security state prison. The town's historic district, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features well-preserved 18th and 19th-century architecture.
