Hawthorne is a hamlet in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is named after Nathaniel Hawthorne, the American novelist. The area was originally settled in the 17th century and was part of the Fordham Manor grant. In the early 20th century, Hawthorne became a popular resort area with the construction of the Hawthorne Circle hotel. Today, it is a residential community with a population of approximately 3,500. The hamlet is home to the Crestwood Lake, a notable landmark that offers recreational activities such as swimming and fishing.
