Carlisle, Pennsylvania, US, founded in 1751, is a historic town and the county seat of Cumberland County. It was originally a Scottish-Irish settlement and served as a trading post for Native Americans. During the American Revolution, it was the site of military camps and a prison for British officers. The town is home to the US Army War College, a notable landmark and the oldest military educational institution in the US. Today, Carlisle has a population of approximately 19,000 and is known for its well-preserved historic buildings and annual events, such as the Carlisle Fair and the car shows at the Carlisle Expo Center.
